OAU Aggregate Score Calculator
OAU is reported to use a 50 : 40 : 10 split: your UTME score is worth 50 marks, the post-UTME test 40 and your O'level grades 10.
How OAU calculates your aggregate score
Aggregate = UTME ÷ 8 + post-UTME ÷ 100 × 40 + O'level points (out of 10). The weighting is UTME 50%, post-UTME 40%, O'level 10%.
- The UTME part is your JAMB score divided by 8 (out of 50).
- The post-UTME score is scaled to 40 marks. If your result slip shows a score out of 40, set "out of" to 40.
- O'level points are A1 = 2, B2 = 1.8, B3 = 1.6, C4 = 1.4, C5 = 1.2 and C6 = 1 across five subjects (10 marks).
- Sources disagree on OAU's method, so compare this with the formula in OAU's current screening notice.
OAU aggregate score worked example
A candidate with 260 in UTME and 62 in the post-UTME test (out of 100) and O'level grades A1, B3, B2, C4, C5 scores:
- UTME: 260 ÷ 8 = 32.5 (out of 50)
- Post-UTME: 62 ÷ 100 × 40 = 24.8 (out of 40)
- O'level: A1 = 2, B3 = 1.6, B2 = 1.8, C4 = 1.4, C5 = 1.2 → total 8 (out of 10; A1 = 2 per subject)
- Aggregate = 32.5 + 24.8 + 8 = 65.3 out of 100
What aggregate score do I need for OAU?
There is no single pass mark. After screening, OAU publishes departmental cut-off marks for each course, and they change from year to year with the number of applicants. Competitive courses such as Medicine, Law, Nursing and Pharmacy always need a much higher aggregate than the general cut-off.
Enter last year's cut-off for your course as the target in the calculator to see the post-UTME score you would need to reach it.
Before you rely on the result
Obafemi Awolowo University does not publish one fixed formula that stays the same every year. This calculator uses the method most widely reported for recent screening exercises. Compare it with the formula in OAU's current post-UTME or screening notice, and if the weights differ, change them under "Change the formula" and the result updates.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is the OAU aggregate score calculated?
OAU is reported to use a 50 : 40 : 10 split: your UTME score is worth 50 marks, the post-UTME test 40 and your O'level grades 10. In short: Aggregate = UTME ÷ 8 + post-UTME ÷ 100 × 40 + O'level points (out of 10).
Does OAU add O'level grades to the aggregate?
Yes. O'level grades are worth 10 of the 100 marks, so a better grade in each required subject raises your aggregate. Grades below C6 earn no points and usually mean you don't meet the course requirements.
How much does the OAU post-UTME score count?
The post-UTME is worth 40 of the 100 marks. Each mark you gain in the test adds 0.4 to your aggregate, against 0.13 for each UTME mark.
