UNIBEN Aggregate Score Calculator
UNIBEN is reported to weight the UTME and the post-UTME test equally: UTME divided by 8 plus post-UTME divided by 2, out of 100.
How UNIBEN calculates your aggregate score
Aggregate = UTME ÷ 8 + post-UTME ÷ 2. The weighting is UTME 50%, post-UTME 50%.
- The UTME part is your JAMB score divided by 8 (out of 50).
- The post-UTME is a computer-based test scored out of 100, then divided by 2 (out of 50).
- O'level results decide whether you qualify for the course; they are not added as marks in this formula.
UNIBEN aggregate score worked example
A candidate with 284 in UTME and 76 in the post-UTME test (out of 100) scores:
- UTME: 284 ÷ 8 = 35.5 (out of 50)
- Post-UTME: 76 ÷ 2 = 38 (out of 50)
- Aggregate = 35.5 + 38 = 73.5 out of 100
What aggregate score do I need for UNIBEN?
There is no single pass mark. After screening, UNIBEN publishes departmental cut-off marks for each course, and they change from year to year with the number of applicants. Competitive courses such as Medicine, Law, Nursing and Pharmacy always need a much higher aggregate than the general cut-off.
Enter last year's cut-off for your course as the target in the calculator to see the post-UTME score you would need to reach it.
Before you rely on the result
The University of Benin does not publish one fixed formula that stays the same every year. This calculator uses the method most widely reported for recent screening exercises. Compare it with the formula in UNIBEN's current post-UTME or screening notice, and if the weights differ, change them under "Change the formula" and the result updates.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is the UNIBEN aggregate score calculated?
UNIBEN is reported to weight the UTME and the post-UTME test equally: UTME divided by 8 plus post-UTME divided by 2, out of 100. In short: Aggregate = UTME ÷ 8 + post-UTME ÷ 2.
Does UNIBEN add O'level grades to the aggregate?
Not in this formula. Your O'level result decides whether you qualify for the course (normally five credits including English Language and Mathematics), but it doesn't add marks to the aggregate.
How much does the UNIBEN post-UTME score count?
The post-UTME is worth 50 of the 100 marks. Each mark you gain in the test adds 0.5 to your aggregate, against 0.13 for each UTME mark.
