UNN Aggregate Score Calculator

UNN is reported to screen with your UTME and O'level results instead of a written post-UTME test, weighted 60 : 40. UNN usually quotes the result out of 400.

How UNN calculates your aggregate score

Aggregate = UTME ÷ 400 × 60 + O'level points (out of 40). The weighting is UTME 60%, O'level 40%.

• The UTME part is 60% of the aggregate.
• The O'level part is 40%, from the grades of your relevant subjects: A1 = 100, B2 = 90, B3 = 80, C4 = 70, C5 = 60, C6 = 50 points each (four subjects shown here; change the number if your faculty uses five).
• On the 400 scale this is UTME × 0.6 + O'level points × 0.4; the calculator shows the same result out of 100 and out of 400.
• UNN has sometimes held a written test instead. If yours does, use the custom formula on the main aggregate calculator.

UNN aggregate score worked example

A candidate with 280 in UTME and O'level grades C5, B3, B2, C4 scores:

• UTME: 280 ÷ 400 × 60 = 42 (out of 60)
• O'level: C5 = 6, B3 = 8, B2 = 9, C4 = 7 → total 30 (out of 40; A1 = 10 per subject)
• Aggregate = 42 + 30 = 72 out of 100

Out of 400 this is 72 × 4 = 288.

What aggregate score do I need for UNN?

There is no single pass mark. After screening, UNN publishes departmental cut-off marks for each course, and they change from year to year with the number of applicants. Competitive courses such as Medicine, Law, Nursing and Pharmacy always need a much higher aggregate than the general cut-off.

Enter last year's cut-off for your course as the target in the calculator to see the UTME score you would need to reach it.

Before you rely on the result

The University of Nigeria, Nsukka does not publish one fixed formula that stays the same every year. This calculator uses the method most widely reported for recent screening exercises. Compare it with the formula in UNN's current post-UTME or screening notice, and if the weights differ, change them under "Change the formula" and the result updates.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is the UNN aggregate score calculated?

UNN is reported to screen with your UTME and O'level results instead of a written post-UTME test, weighted 60 : 40. UNN usually quotes the result out of 400. In short: Aggregate = UTME ÷ 400 × 60 + O'level points (out of 40).

Does UNN add O'level grades to the aggregate?

Yes. O'level grades are worth 40 of the 100 marks, so a better grade in each required subject raises your aggregate. Grades below C6 earn no points and usually mean you don't meet the course requirements.

Does UNN hold a post-UTME test?

UNN has been reported to screen with UTME and O'level results instead of a scored written test. If your year has a test, use the custom formula on the main aggregate calculator page.
